Myriam Ortiz, Executive Director: a parent and former Assistant Director, Ms. Ortiz was the first BPON organizer for the Jamaica Plain Parent Organizing Project. Ms. Ortiz served as one of the first 15 Family and Community Outreach Coordinators for BPS for a few years. Under her leadership, BPON launched a new individual membership structure and is embarking on a historic endeavor to build the strongest intergenerational model for school reform in the city of Boston. Ms. Ortiz is currently a Coordinating Committee member for the Boston United for Students Coalition which seeks to amplify the voices of parents and student to improve the Boston Teachers Union Contract. She serves on several local advisory boards and committees including the Boston Children Thrive in 5 Advisory Group, the New Bostonians k-12 Working Group and the Office of Family and Student Engagement Advisory Group. Ms. Ortiz has been recognized by City and State Officials for her commitment and dedication to the Latino Community in Boston and for her efforts in the passing of the Education Reform Act of 2010. Frank Hart, Organizer. A resident of Boston, MA. He assisted community advocates in community development around the model cities programs for urban renewal; which led him to become more involved in social/political/economic justice for low and moderate income communities. He went on to work with programs around safe neighborhoods and economic development concerns. Frank has worked with non-profits for housing/transit/economic/environmental/public safety/educational and social justice for residents in low-moderate income communities. Frank is committed to the upward mobility and equitable resources to those populations that are underserved, and underrepresented in our society. Email Frank at fhart@bpon.org
